Photoshop over-complicates unnecessarily sometimes. Why can't you click on the line icon, draw it and then modify with properties thereafter. Stupid.

I am simply sick and tired about the Photo Shop "experts" who complain tutorial videos being too long. If you don't know how to do something, it's great to find a video that takes the time to explain it.
I wonder if the so call "experts" remember the time they were rookies. Or where they born knowing PhotoShop?
Have some patience. If you don't have it, please watch something else and do not post your whining comments.
Thanks so much TastyTuts! Very helpful. : ))

Thank you for the tutorial. As simple as this is, it was something I had no idea how to do, as a beginner. I literally tried tracing a straight line using a ruler on the tablet, as ridiculous as that sounds, but no more! <3

The best explanation I've seen for drawing a line in Photoshop, and I've seen a few. What made it special was the complete explanation of the steps you need to take. So many videos leave out a key piece of information that leaves you puzzled when you try to do it.

JC Mills says:
I want to chime in since I think it may help people. I watched the video and drew lines but fumbled till I realized a couple things. Brush works like shit–you have hardly any control over the line. Pen works much better and total control. My case I had to underline about 20 things in a photo with words on it. I used pen and drew the lines but EACH LINE–you right click and go stroke–THEN HIT ENTER. enter deletes the path made with the pen. At the end of the line it will still be attached and as you move the pen the line stays wanting to continue–IGNORE THAT–right click stroke-and brush like he said–then hit enter. That detaches the pen path line ready for the next one. Do that for each line–do not continue drawing separate lines because you end up with a nightmare of paths and you cannot delete them all at once–if you try it deletes all your work. DO EACH LINE SEPARATE and hit enter. Do not click control and click on the screen to detach the pen before using stroke. NO REASON TO DO THAT.
